Chosen in Love — May 18 Worship Reflection

Saturday’s Food Pantry service once again reminded us of the truth in the words “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” As we were handing out food to those in need, one of the recipients brought a whole box of clothing donations. This deeply moved every volunteer present. Love was circulating: each person not only received food, but also gave warmth and gratitude. It was a beautiful orchestration of God’s grace flowing among us — we are walking in love together.

The May 18 Sunday worship continued our sermon series titled “His Story,” which traces God’s movement throughout history, helping us understand the Old Testament more deeply and see how everything prepared the way for Christ’s coming. This week, we focused on exploring Abram’s story.

The message was delivered by Babara, the female lead singer of our church worship band. Her voice always draws people deeply into worship. Today, she not only sang the gentle message of the Gospel but also shared a spiritually rich sermon. One sentence she said deeply touched me: “Abram’s story is our story.”

God chose Abram and made a covenant with him, saying: “I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky” (Genesis 12:3). I used to think only “chosen ones” like Abram could be so favored by God. But today, I came to a new realization: in Christ, every one of us is chosen and blessed. We are those stars, lights God has kindled to shine in the darkness.

This was a moment of spiritual growth for me — not because I heard something novel, but because God’s promises became real in my life, not just history. Every one of us who trusts in Him can become a vessel of blessing, receiving grace and shining for others.

Let us remember this message: we are not just listeners of the story — we are part of it. May we live out Abram’s faith and become stars shining brightly in the night sky.
